Regarding the two trees that fell in our backyard....the live oak and a very old thick limbed ficus....the thick part of the trunk snapped. I would say the ficus trunk might have had an 8" diameter trunk and the oak was well over 12". Some tremendous force had to be involved to make that happen. I am thankful that most of it fell away from the house.
