If you turned that square chart into a circle then removed the lines and numbers you could imagine it was a long-range radar console.
Then increase the size of that blue area about 3 to 5 times and change the color to a fuzzy light green....and bingo - you'd have an idea what the northern lights looked like to me when I was on console duty at the King Salmon Norad Control Center in Alaska (40 years ago.)
