I hope this year's research missions help. The NASA UAVs have dropped hundreds of sondes, some way out off Africa. I hope all of that and the other NOAA research missions help shed some light on things. It doesn't seem like just one problem this year, although it would be nice if they could narrow it down to one thing that caused everything else, if such a thing exists and can be pinpointed. Why they don't form is just as important as why they do. And this, so far, is that year. (despite the mostly short lived named storms we have had)

It is still amazing how the year started off. We had some of the furthest south and east forming storms in the Atlantic. It really looked like this could be a Cape Verde year. it's going to be really interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out.
