I just wish they would wait to end masking requirements until at least all kids are eligible to be vaccinated, and have the vaccination be required in schools. (like so many other vaccines are required) Everyone should have the chance to be vaccinated and the youngest kids don't have that opportunity quite yet. Perhaps very soon.
So many people have either gotten it, or were vaccinated and were among those that didn't catch it yet this time, that the cases are dropping. But reinfection could be an issue. Eventually, and maybe it is already happening due to politics, most people are just going to stop requiring masks no matter how bad it is. Maybe during surges in winter there will be mask mandates in some places in future years if things were to get bad, with a really contagious variant or one that is more deadly, but eventually people are going to stop listening. Seems like a lot of people already are, from politicians to sporting events.
The Canada trucker "protest" is a big problem too. I wish they would arrest them and tow their trucks. Leave the trucks impounded for awhile. Seems like they could pass a law to solve things up there pretty quick if they don't already have something on the books. Can't have people blocking the streets forever.
I'll be wearing a mask though for a long time to come. And it will be an N95. Those do seem to work better. Less air gets out when I'm breathing because I don't get air coming up toward my glasses like I did when I exhale. I've gotten better and better at putting it on without a mirror.
I like these 3-M Aura 9205+ masks: https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Aura-Particulate-Respirator-N95-Foldable-10-Pack-9205P-10-DC/316909322 Home Depot has 3,660 available for delivery right now for these. (free delivery with $45 order)
I picked up some of the free N95 masks that are available at various places. I got three at CVS. You get whatever they were sent from the national stockpile. The three I got were an off-brand one that didn't look as good as the 3-M ones I bought. I have 12 of the 3-M ones for me and my dad, so that should last a long time since we don't go out much and we'll reuse them a lot.
Still no sign of the tests in the mail at all. No tracking either. I may not have any need for them ever, but still think they are good to have. Would kind of be nice if I had thought about it to coordinate with some neighbors, like if they ever needed one I could give them mine and then when I used these they could get some and then if needed I could use theirs. I don't know how long these tests last before they expire. And also, they might not be that great. But in some cases they could be useful. If important though, better to assume you have it if you ever develop symptoms and test negative with the rapid tests. Or get a test elsewhere rather than the rapid test to see if it's really important to know if you have it. |
