Good point about polar vortex killing SSTs.
However, three things are in the back of my mind:
1) Specific heat capacity of water vs air; which pretty much says oceans, in general, influence air temps and not vice versa.
2) The huge negative SSH anomaly that occurred about 1 month after the spill started and right where the currents from the spill into the SE GOM would take it.
3) Big Oil with their big money will be highly motivated to keep a lid on this.
