I'm not surprised about a lack of independence or integrity from a govt agency

Even if one of its primary goals is public safety. In general these agencies have been co-opted either by the military or corporate power structures and can easily become pawns of politicians in Washington. I still remember the way the NHC director was unceremoniously dumped by forces within the NOAA agency without full hearings or just cause. It obviously had to do with money and contracts within the agency. I lost a lot of respect for NOAA at that time. |
