Re: The President's White House appearances are dangerous

I think it was an hour and a half at least today before a doctor spoke. I think there may have been about 3 minutes of Dr. Fauci at the end and that was it. By then, no network, even Fox News, was covering it. Only a local 24 hour news channel here and I suppose CSPAN, were covering the doctor actually saying something. That was after President, VP, Secretary of Education, Secretary of Agriculture, some business guy, and the CEO of Panera Bread. Then Dr. Birx and very briefly, Dr. Fauci. By that time, no network was left covering it. Locally, the local stations are covering it at the start. Not a national feed, but local news is showing it. Local ABC affiliate seems to cut away more quickly each day. NBC and CBS affiliates were back to local news before 6:30pm national news. So they are playing these things less and less.

I wish Trump would have realized sooner that if he was forcing American companies to make things like ventilators and personal protective equipment, and by some tiny chance we had too much, he could have sold billions of dollars worth of stuff to other countries. (Not that we should be profiting, but that's something that could appeal to him) I thought all along that might be the catalyst for him to act. But only now has it dawned on him. In reality, now, and perhaps even if this was done two months ago, there's no way we will have a surplus. He finally used the Defense Production Act for GM, but we should be using it more and more. And we need to stop having hospitals and states have to bid against FEMA, and other states and hospitals, to get things. He has that power too.

I think my grandmother gets a bit more again. Although my dad told her to fill out a list for when someone goes over there next to shop for her and she said she didn't need anything. She said we bought her a year worth of soup. She normally buys like a few cans when someone shops for her for a week. She only now has maybe 18 cans, maybe 24, of various soups, but we wanted to make sure she had at least a month worth of food. She has frozen meals and other stuff too, so it might be a few months of food. We didn't want to take any chances.
