That chart from Brian McNoldy is an excellent visual way to show what's happening. Given the problems with testing, I don't think we'll see the rise his extrapolation shows in terms of the actual numbers of confirmed cases. We'll be at a million cases in a week, but the testing is unlikely going to reflect that. Sadly, the death toll may be closer to that extrapolation. We may see the death toll rise to about 9,000 to 10,000 in a week. Exponential growth at this point forward results in a rapidly increasing tragedy.

It was interesting to read that article about the grocery store. They really did a lot of preparation. It's am amazing logistical effort going on to get people groceries. I guess it's really always an amazing process behind the scenes on how all those kinds of things work, but especially now. Important to know that people are working hard to keep things moving in the supply chain to stores and then to everyone.

I really hope it's a quiet season. It's probably never been so important. I don't know what hotels are going to be open during the season. Other areas people use for shelters may be being used for other purposes. Trying to get people to stay home and separated from others is hard enough. Trying to get everyone to leave and still stay separated, and have the supplies they need such as food, is unimaginable. And that's if there is no cleanup after. I can't imagine an actual hit. I'm afraid that many people might just not evacuate. Honestly, I would have to think what category something might be at landfall. I would be with my dad and he's at high risk of the virus. Family in other states I would normally consider staying with are also at varying degrees of higher risk. Staying at a hotel, or certainly a shelter, isn't a great prospect. And for those without a car, you would have to get mass transit going again, if not running at that time. Emergency management officials need to be working on plans that I'm sure have never crossed their minds, a pandemic and hurricane at the same time.
