Re: New York City revises coronavirus death toll to add 3,700 more deaths

It's really is important to understand the true extent of the pandemic. I haven't seen anything that supports opening up anything in the month and a half, until the end of May at the very least. Meanwhile, some want to open things up before the end of this month in places.

The models also depend on the best data available. They haven't had something closer to the actual death toll in their simulations. (at least I haven't heard that they are assuming an undercount of the death toll in models) Basically, we all need to continue what we have been doing if we can. For those going to work, masks are absolutely essential. (some kind of facial covering) Washing your hands whenever possible. Never shaking hands again. Don't go out in public spaces near other people unless we need to. We do that until the vaccine is widely available and is shown to be working in the population.

I really wish we would mandate face coverings in public. We need that everywhere. My county has a curfew now and is also exploring requiring making face masks required. There are some areas that have mandated face coverings. Anything is better than nothing, as long as you don't constantly touch it and then tough your mouth, nose or eyes. Still not sure if you can get the coronavirus by it entering your eye or not. I see some things, though haven't seen a reliable source yet, that says you can spread it through your eyes. Don't know about getting it that way. Since this is something that impacts your lungs, you definitely can get it through the mouth or nose. And spread it that way of course. But maybe you can only spread it through your eyes, not get it through your eyes. But I'm going to assume you can just in case. You want to slow the spread anyway, so it's good to use eye protection anyway so you reduce the risk of spreading it. None of us know for sure whether we have it or not.
