Re: America failed to do what it needed to do and things are now likely to get much worse

I have a feeling that any sports leagues that restart are going to go without fans until there is a vaccine. If not because they care, then because of liability. (But some owners have done well through this, not wanting to put people at risk and donating money.) That is unless the government does something to force them to open with fans. Nothing would surprise me at this point. Players and everyone involved will need to isolate from their families during that time. People who normally don't get paid as much, like people filming and security for example, need to be paid a lot more. You would probably see them playing at a handful of stadiums and arenas and likely less games. They might do that, even though there is going to be a lot of risk, so that people have something to watch at home.

Masks need to be a requirement everywhere. All major grocery and pharmacy chains should have led on this and smaller businesses would follow more. But even airlines aren't mandating them. I saw on the news tonight that flight attendants wear them, which are more to protect the passengers, but passengers are not required, so they put the flight attendants at risk. I do understand that some people have breathing problems so a mask isn't possible. That might make it a little more complex to enforce if governments do it.

Restaurants should get used to doing takeout or delivery. If they aren't doing it now, work it out so that they can continue in some form.

As for beaches, people still don't get that even breathing probably spreads it to some extent. If someone walks by or you walk behind them, 6 feet is not enough because you will walk right into where they exhaled. It may or may not be a major contributor, no one really knows, but I look at all those beaches that people are at and wonder what they are thinking. It's not worth the risk when there is still so much we don't know.

We still don't know if you can get this more than once.

Governments across the country are making a lot of bad decisions right now. We're on a plateau of new cases and deaths right now and somehow now it's the perfect time to start opening things back up. There's a lot of governments around the country looking at it now. Even worldwide. The cases needed to be got down and then we needed testing and contact tracing. Maybe some other places are thinking about it but aren't likely to do it as soon. I can get having a plan, but it needs to be sensible and then follow it.

I just look at those meat plants that had to close. Everyone getting sick is a terrible thing, but to some they think that getting back to work will help the economy. And they forget about the part where a hundred million people might be sick. I can't imagine tens of millions of people in this country needing to be in the hospital over a short period of time. Most people live, but some of those people live because they need to be in the hospital for awhile. Imagine how New York was, near to over capacity, and then multiply it by 10 or 20 times. Maybe more or maybe less, we don't know how many are truly asymptomatic. I just can't really see where this is all going. I know it's going to bad, but it's really hard to comprehend how bad it could be.
